Get rid of outlook

Ever tried to get rid of Outlook Express from your system ?

You try deleting files - but after a few seconds they’re back.

Here’s one way to get rid of it forever (well almost, see the note below.)

Copy the following lines to a text file:

del csapi3t1.dll
del MSIMN.EXE
del MSOE.DLL
del msoe.txt
del MSOERES.DLL
del OEIMPORT.DLL
del OEMIG50.EXE
del OEMIGLIB.DLL
del setup50.exe
del WAB.EXE
del WABFIND.DLL
del WABIMP.DLL
del WABMIG.EXE

save this text file as a batch file, say delete_oe.bat.

Copy this batch file to:

C:\WINNT\Driver Cache\i386

and run it.

Copy it to:

C:\WINNT\system32\dllcache

and run it.

Finally, copy it to:

C:\Program Files\Outlook Express

and run it.

If you have installed a service pack, you also need to run the batch file in

C:\WINNT\ServicePackFiles\i386

After this step, windows will complain and ask you to insert your windows CD or service pack CD.

Just ignore the message.

You are done, outlook is banished from your system.

Note: If you run windows update or install a service pack, OE may be reinstalled, so just go through the process again.

This works on windows 2000, apparently the procedure is the same for windows XP.
